OPTIMISING INTERIORS TO REDUCE STOP-OVER TIMES
- - by Bernhard Rüger & Doris Tuna, Vienna University of Technology

OPTIMISING INTERIORS TO REDUCE STOPOn the whole, current levels of train passenger exchange are unsatisfactory. On the one hand different entrance areas cause difficulties that restrict comfort, impact the modal split and so considerably influence the exchange. On the other, coach interiors are also to blame. Poor designs cause a tailback of boarding passengers, which in turn increases the stop-over time in stations and impacts on punctuality.
